
CORE faculty are the main instructors in a certain program or department. They possess specialized knowledge and skills in their profession. Curriculum development, education, and student mentoring are often greatly influenced by core faculty. They provide guidance, support, and mentorship to students. Some claim that the core faculty contributes to the development and improvement of academic programs.
Academic success is enhanced by the strong mentoring and training provided by core faculty members. The expertise and involvement of an academic program’s core faculty can enhance its validity and repute.
Fortunately, the Department of Education conducted a capability building program for core faculty who will deliver the importance features of the Revised K to 12 Curriculum, last May 15-17, 2025 in Baguio City. Representatives from the different division were called to be the core faculty for the regional training of the core training faculty in the different regions in the country.
Region VII, Central Visayas conducted a Regional Capability Building of the Core Training Faculty for the divisions in Region VII. Siquijor and Negros Oriental provinces’ division core faculty representatives attended the training of Region VII.
The capability building activities were held in the different venues for Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 5, and Grade 8 core faculty to manage the school-based training of teachers on the Revised K to 12 Curriculum in their respective divisions.
Dr. Leah B. Apao, a dedicated education leader and Director III of the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), delivered inspirational message, monitored and provided technical assistance in the conduct of the core faculty training program. Dr. Carmela C. Oracion, Assistant Secretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development of the NEAP gave inspirational messages to the different training venues.
DepEd Region VII Director IV, Dr. Salustiano T. Jimenez, JD, EdD, CESO III, managed the training program with Atty Fiel Y. Almendra, CESO IV Director III, Assistant Regional Director; Mr. Misael G. Borgonia, Chief Education Supervisor/NEAP Focal Person in Region VII; and the Education Program Supervisors in DepEd Region VII. It is just worth to mention dedicated and committed assistance of Bohol’ pride in DepEd Region VII HRRD EPSvr, Dr. Reynaldo Anto.
