Religion and politics

MAY one’s religion go in tandem with politics?

As defined, religion is man’s expression of his acknowledgment of the divine.

It defines man’s deep reminder of his past as a person and appreciate the due recognition of the existence of the most heavenly and ultimately determine how close his relationship with Him. For it is a proven fact of the frailty in man in so far as his closeness with God.

On some occasions he is with Him, but more often he is too far from Him. Especially when one is in the midst of a festive celebration, he forgets his Creator.

And he could easily remember Him only when he is in dire need of Him. When one is in distress, his only recourse is his God. He pleads for mercy. His only recourse is to ask for forgiveness.

As further defined, religion is a system of belief and practices relating to the sacred and uniting its adherence in a community.

Therefore, to know one’s God is a must. His relationship with the Divine Creator is as important as life itself. To Short Cuts, God is life.  For, how could one be on this world without Him? But because God is invisible and if only to know Him, one may establish instead his relationship with his parents, neighbors, and friends.

And such a relationship can be visibly considered as his relationship with Him. Show and establish your love with your parents as well as your neighbors and friends. And such a relationship, too, is an indicator that TO KNOW GOD is already accomplished in one’s relationship with Him.

To LOVE GOD. How can one love his God if he does not know Him? Therefore, the first and primary concern is to know Him. In the same manner that no one is too brave enough to marry a lady whose personal identity is alien to him. And, once the identity has already been established, nuptial celebration will follow.

TO SERVE. Is one willing enough to serve somebody who is not his love one? What degree of courage and loyalty one has to serve a person who is not his love? The answers to these two queries are as simple as the sun rises at the east. Simply said, therefore, no one can faithfully serve someone who is not his love.

As in politics, the same process can be applied. Wise voters must first know the different candidates in an election. They may disregard their party affiliations. With so many political parties during an election, one may ignore their political color. Political parties are not indicators of good public service.

What is important is: How qualified is he? How loyal is he to the service once elected? And, how honest is the candidate once in power?

After knowing and identifying the chosen candidate, the wise voter loves him. And usually, in exhibiting the voters’ love of his candidate, he follows the campaign schedule of his loved politico. In fact, he spends sometimes for his chosen candidate. He becomes an avid supporter.

And ultimately on election day, If only to show his love for the candidate, he serves him. He votes for him.
