Saulog Tagbilaran 2025 launches today with grand festivities

SANDUGO LAUNCH.  Today, Tagbilaran City officially launches Saulog Tagbilaran 2025 with a Thanksgiving Mass and a wreath-laying ceremony commemorating the 460th Blood Compact Anniversary. The festivities will unfold at the Tagbilaran Friendship Park in Barangay Bool, featuring a vibrant program, the presentation of Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2025 candidates, cultural performances, and various activities highlighting the city’s rich heritage and community spirit. This marks the beginning of a month-long celebration, culminating in the grand Saulog Street Dancing Competition and Parade on April 27, 2025.

This annual festival, celebrated in honor of the city’s patron saint, St. Joseph the Worker, has grown into one of the most anticipated events in Tagbilaran City, showcasing its rich cultural heritage, religious devotion, and vibrant local talent.

The grand launch will begin with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

After the Mass, Mayor Jane Yap will lead the wreath-laying and floral dedication ceremony for the 460th Blood Compact Anniversary.

This solemn ceremony pays tribute to the historic pact of friendship and alliance, which remains a significant part of the city’s identity.

Joining Mayor Yap are Msgr. Jeffrey Malanog, Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Vice Governor Tita Baja, Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala, and Bool Barangay Captain Jose Floro Ringca.

During the program, Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala will deliver the words of welcome, setting the tone for the day’s festivities.

Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and Mayor Jane Yap are also expected to deliver their messages, emphasizing the importance of celebrating Tagbilaran’s heritage and strengthening its unity.

The event’s guest speaker, Ms. Mikhaela Louise Romero, First Nominee of the 1 Pac-Man Partylist, is expected to share her insights on cultural appreciation and heritage preservation.

One of the highlights of today’s celebration is the presentation of the Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2025 candidates, who will showcase their grace, beauty, and intelligence as they vie for the prestigious crown.

A series of captivating performances by the Vanguardians Dance Company and the Lungsoranon Performing Arts Ensemble (LUPAE) will add an extra layer of excitement to the celebration.

Major events include the Saulog Tagbilaran Interschool Quiz Bee Competition on March 22, 2025, Saulog Tagbilaran Sports Opening Ceremony on March 23, 2025, Mutya sa Tagbilaran on April 23, 2025, Saulog Festival King and Queen on April 25, 2025, Saulog Street Dancing Competition and Parade on April 27, 2025, DuEkSam Night on May 1, 2025, and Maoy sa Mayo Saulog Concert on May 4, 2025.

Regular Saulog activities that the public has come to love will also be held, including the Saulog Tagbilaran Bazaar and Nightly Entertainment from April 11 to May 3, 2025, at the City Hall Grounds, Kumbira sa Tagbilaran on April 21, 2025, at the City Central Market, Himog Huni Original Songwriting Competition on April 28, 2025, at Island City Mall, and the St. Joseph the Worker Fluvial Parade on April 29, 2025.
