TAGBILARAN City marked the start of International Women’s Month with a program and motorcade on March 7, 2025, at the Saulog Gym.

Led by Mayor Jane Yap, the event gathered women from various sectors to honor their contributions and highlight the city’s commitment to gender equality.

With the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, the celebration underscored the vital role of women in shaping a progressive and inclusive society.

The day began with a Holy Eucharistic Mass at the City Hall Atrium, followed by a motorcade from the City Hall to Tagbilaran City Hall to Calceta Street turning left to Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Avenue straight to Plaza Rizal and turning at J.A. Clarin Street and finally at the event venue at the Saulog Gym.

The main program at Saulog Gym featured an inspiring keynote address by Cirilo Maramba Jr., who emphasized the importance of women’s solidarity in overcoming challenges and advancing their roles in leadership and development.

Mayor Jane Yap, in her message, reaffirmed her administration’s unwavering support for women, stating, “Women are the backbone of our communities. Through these activities, we celebrate their contributions and strengthen our resolve to build a city where women are empowered to lead and succeed.”

The city’s month-long celebration includes a series of activities designed to empower women across various fields.

On March 3, an all-women-led flag ceremony at City Hall showcased the increasing influence of women in governance.

It was followed with the Shield Against Cervical Cancer campaign offering free HPV vaccinations and awareness sessions, promoting women’s health and wellness.

From March 10 to 21, a Women’s Fair at the City Hall grounds will highlight female entrepreneurs and their businesses, providing them with opportunities for exposure and networking.

A Serbisyo Para Kay Juana will be held on March 14 at City Hall, offering free medical and legal consultations for women in the city.

Extending support to marginalized women, the city government will conduct another Serbisyo Para Kay Juana on March 18 at the Tagbilaran City Jail, bringing essential medical, legal, and wellness services to female inmates.
