Bohol solons sign VP impeachment
FOR TRUTH!

UPHOLDING their constitutional mandate as members of the House of Representatives, the three lawmakers of Bohol decided to sign the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a joint statement, Cong. Edgar Chatto, Cong. Vanessa Aumentado and Cong. Alexie Tutor said they joined the majority’s call for transparency and accountability in public service, making reference to the Constitutional guarantee that a public office is a public trust.

“We act as members of our respective political parties which actively participated in the conscientious effort of the Quad-Committee in the past months in threshing out the truth through evidence,” their statement said.

They also clarified that the move was not an affront against the Vice President nor her Office but merely a search for truth.

According to them, elevating the matter to the Senate now accords the Vice President the platform to give defense to the case.

The Senate, acting as the impeachment court, can hear the evidence and decide on the merit of the case based on facts and laws, the statement added.

The representatives also reaffirmed their commitment to good governance under a democracy that protects the rights of people under the law. (PR)
