“DIONISIO, ayaw jud pangawat sa kuwarta sa gobyerno; otherwise, akoy una magpapreso nimo”.
These were the stinging words that Short Cuts’ eldest brother reminded Short Cuts when he won as the town executive of his town in the November 1971 local elections.
Short Cuts was then only thirty (30) years old, and his eldest brother was then the incumbent Assistant Treasurer of the town.
Then the last local elections (May, 2022) came. . . .
Short Cuts’ second to the youngest son, Dionisio Neil, filed his Certificate of Candidacy and with God’s graces easily won! (It is informed that all of Short Cuts’ three sons are all named Dionisio — Dionisio Jr., Dionisio Neil, and the late Dionisio Victor).
When the results of the May, 2022 local elections were released, the same words of advice were uttered by Short Cuts if only to remind him: “Neil, ayaw jud pangawat sa kuwarta sa gobyerno; otherwise, akoy una magpapreso nimo.”
As a consequence, Short Cuts was always on the watch on the “goings on” of Mayor Dionisio Neil’s daily performance.
Then, suddenly a lightning struck in the midst of a very peaceful Valencia . . . . A “recorida” around the town was conducted by no less than a priest informing the Valencianhons of a very corrupt local administration. But before the “recorida”, the same priest was accordingly attacking the same local administration of Valencia in one of his Sunday homilies on the same issue on corruption.
And worse, the same incident was done right in front of the incumbent Municipal Mayor and Vice-Mayor who attended the same Sunday Mass.
Who was the source of the information on corruption and received by the Priest? Was the Priest prudent enough in conducting his own investigation before he announced the same?
These two incidents drastically changed the feelings of the entire religious community of the town in so short a time. Imagine, without any provocation, that may have come from the populace, this priest used the pulpit to destroy the honor and dignity of town officials who are at the same the Children of Christ!
For, if this priest could easily degrade these town officals, would it not be easy for him to do the same to the ordinary citizens in the community?
And, if this priest continues to do the same acts, is he still worthy to be called a PRIEST?
And, if he still persists in doing so, kitang mga VALENCIANHON, magpabilin lang nga moduko ug moto-o niining PARI-a?
Ug, tungod niini, wala na bay lain?
