BLCI, Bohecos: Reduced rates for Oct 2024 billing

HERE’S a good news. The Bohol Light company, Inc, now owned-and-managed by Primelectric company of Razon group of companies and the Bohol Electric Cooperatives I & II, have announced the reduced power rates for October billing.

The end-consumers will experience the reduced power rate of P3.81/kilowatthour for the month, much lower than the September billing, it said.

This translates to P9.81/kwh for every kwh used from P13.62/kwh for every residential household. The commercial price tag is pegged at P9.54/kwh from P13.26/kwh.

The lower rate for power is a result of the reduced of power rates offered by Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). This affects the pricing of the low rates of Power Generation Cost.

The so-called Generation and Transmission charges against BLCI is considered as “pass-through” to the end-users billed by power generators and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The proceeds of these Generation and Transmission charges are remitted to the power suppliers, including the NGCP.

And these (Generation and Transmission) are considered variable per month based on the purchase of raw materials for power generation plants every month. This results to an adjustment in pricing power rates.

The Distribution, Supply and Metering (DSM) charges amounting to P0.9840/kwh is said to be fixed and the only charge that BLCI may get. This DSM is used for administrative, operations and maintenance expenditures.

The charging of DSM against the end-consumers must be approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) upon application.

Meanwhile, Bohol Electric Cooperative (Boheco II) announced that he power rates it charges for their end-users has also gone down for October billing.

The rates charged would be P11.99/kwh from P13.34/kwh. T said that this is the result of lower generation charges, it said.

Boheco I issued a statement posted on its facebook says: This month’s effective rate for on-grid residential customers is ₱𝟭𝟬.𝟯𝟭𝟲𝟵 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗮𝘁𝘁-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 (𝗸𝗪𝗵) (for residential customers), which is significantly lower by ₱1.3523 compared to last month’s ₱11.6692 per kWh.

This reduction is mainly due to lower costs of electricity secured from BOHECO I’s bilateral agreements through a Competitive Selection Process (CSP) and lower exposure to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

It explains below the breakdown of electricity bill:

(1). 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: ₱𝟱.𝟯𝟳𝟵𝟴 (52%) goes to our power suppliers: Cebu Energy Development Corporation (CEDC) and Energy Development Corporation (EDC), WESM and Net Metering.

(2). 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: ₱𝟭.𝟰𝟱𝟬𝟰 (14%) is paid to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for transporting electricity from power plants to our BOHECO I substations. While this charge remains relatively stable, it may change if NGCP adjusts its rates.

(3). 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀: ₱𝟬.𝟰𝟰𝟰𝟭 (4%) accounts for the unavoidable energy losses that happen during the transmission of electricity. This is paid to our suppliers.

(4). 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗗𝗦𝗠) 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀: ₱𝟭.𝟲𝟭𝟬𝟵 (16%) directly supports BOHECO I’s operational efficiency in providing power to your homes, businesses and essential services. These charges are strictly regulated by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and have been remained unchanged since 2007. BOHECO I cannot change them without ERC approval.

(5). 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗫 (𝗥𝗙𝗦𝗖): ₱𝟬.𝟱𝟮𝟯𝟮 (5%) is collected by BOHECO I but specifically used for constructing substations and other critical infrastructures to ensure a reliable and stable power supply. This charge is also regulated by the ERC and BOHECO I cannot adjust it without the approval from the ERC.

(6). 𝗧𝗮𝘅𝗲𝘀: ₱𝟬.𝟱𝟵𝟳𝟱 (6%) is the Value Added Tax (VAT) that goes directly to the government.

(7). 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀: ₱𝟬.𝟯𝟭𝟭𝟬 (3%) are payments to government entities like PSALM and TransCo, along with subsidies for Lifeline Consumers and Senior Citizens.

For residents in island areas that are not connected to the main grid, your rate is ₱10.9826 per kWh. (rvo)
