VICE-Governor Tita V. Baja advises everyone to always keep safe amid threat of typhoons during these “Ber” months when Bohol appeared to be a typhoon path.
The advice came after Tuesday’s suspension of classes in all levels in almost all local government units due to incessant heavy downpour in the early dawn till the sunlight in almost all areas.
Days before, especially during the last weekend, intermittent downpour and wind engulfed the city and other towns. Some areas in the city, as usual are flooded.
She told an interview that it’s better to be prepared or ready in the event of calamity than be sorry.
After the tropical depression “Gener,” that had made landfall in Palanan, Isabela, at 11 pm on Monday, September 16, another one, to be called “Helen” is looming.
“Gener” was packed with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and gustiness of up to 70 km/h, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)
Meanwhile, Baja said that part of her responsibility is to visit towns and see first hand their situations.
The vice-governor met with Batuan Mayor Atty. Antonino Jumawid Carmen officials and barangay officials in Tuesday morning prior to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s regular session she presided over in the afternoon. (rvo)
