TWO unnamed kids were dead in a fire that ravaged three houses made of light materials in barangay Manga, Tagbilaran City on August 14, 2024.
City Mayor Jane Cajes Yap confirmed this update in her facebook post hours after the conflagration that kills one-year old and three-year old and hurt another one in critical condition in a city hospital.
“Let’s pray for him who is still fighting for his life,” the mayor said.
The source of the fire was not yet available as of press time as the investigation is still on going, she said.
The fire gutted down the houses made of light materials in Purok 1, Barangay Manga, before Manga Elementary School nearby a vulcanizing shop.
The house has no power connection. It is but a display of furniture made of bamboo which is the livelihood of the owner. Traces of battery of a vehicle lamp, paint thinner and other paint materials were found inside the house.
When fire out was declared, the mayor rushed to the hospital where the critical (unnamed) father of the kids to check his status. Initial findings bared that the father suffered third degree burns in his whole body and his head.
Then, she hurried to visit the Funeraria Gomez to see to it that the cadavers of the kids are taken care of.
The mayor vowed to take care of the expenses for the burial of the kids, hospital bills and will extend help to let the mother come home to attend the internment.
