TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)— The Department of Trade and Industry-led Sandugo One-Town-One Product trade Fair this year may have seen a tough selling season, but at P19.7 million in cash, booked and under-negotioation sales, this year still surpassed the previous sales by 7 percent.
According to DTI Bohol Provincial Director Vierna Teresa Chiu-Ligan, over-all cash sales registered a 58% increase from P9.2M last year to P14.5 M this year, however booked and under-negotiations sales dipped by an average of 48 percent.
Observers said this could be something that could be attributed to the uncertainty of the supply chain, considering that the pandemic has disrupted so much of the value chain that markets have become all too cautious.
The annual regional product showcase which featured the best most innovative products from the regions displayed by 140 exhibitors include 52 displaying processed food, 52 more for the non-food and 11 from the furniture industry, is the DTI’s way of extending further its support to the country’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) not juts by providing them with technical assistance from materials, technologies to product design and then to marketing.
This assures our MSMEs of the continued support by handholding them until they become truly sufficient and sustain in the domestic and international markets, Ligan said.
