TAGBILARAN CITY – The son of Vice-Gov. Dionisio Victor A. Balite and wife, Russel Valmores Balite has been ordained as a priest in a ceremony inside the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral last July 11, 2024.
Bernadine Jade Dionne V. Balite became reverend father to the Catholics who made a vow before Most Reverend Alberto S. Uy, Bishop of Tagbilaran, the prelates and priests and throng of the faithful in a ceremony held here.
Rev. Fr. Bernadine Jade Dionne V. Balite must be answering this way, “I am willing and ready to do so; and I solemnly declare that I do believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God, and to contain all things necessary to salvation; and I do solemnly engage to conform to the doctrine, discipline, and worship of The Catholic Church,” when asked by the Bishop to take his cross.
In a process the Bishop in the Church of God, on behalf of the clergy and people of the Diocese of Tagbilaran, presented Balite to be ordained a priest in Christ’s holy catholic Church.
Balite has been selected as one of the priests in accordance with “the canons of the Catholic Church to exercise of the ministry, to be loyal to the doctrine, discipline, and worship of Christ as this Church and, in accordance with the canons of this Church, obey your bishop and other ministers who may have authority over you and your work.”
The ordination of a priest is a sacred ceremony within Christian traditions, including the Episcopal Church and the Catholic Church. Here are the key elements of the ordination process: presentations, qualifications, commitment, declaration, congregation’s role, prayer/litany, laying on of hands, anointing, vestments/symbols, and charge, according to how a priest is ordained.
In her facebook post, his mother, Russel Valmores Balite thanked God and Mama Mary for the gift in the ordination of her son.
“Salamat usab sa mga tawo nakatabang kanamu ilabi na ni Papa Dioning Balite and family sa financial support dili na mawala sa among panumduman ngadto usab sa akong Familia Valmores sa inyong moral and spiritual support ug sa mga tawong nagmahal kanamu daghan kaayo mo dili lang naku e-mention ha ang Ginoo na magbalos kaninyong tanan.”
