Financial Literacy for Credit and Risk Management

UNDERSTANDING and utilizing a variety of financial abilities, such as investing, budgeting, and personal financial management, successfully is known as financial literacy. One can have a wise relationship with money when financially literate. It takes a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude, and conduct to attain individual financial well-being and make wise financial decisions. These principles offer practical guidance to improve your financial literacy and optimize your assets.

The Ubay District Public School Teachers and Employees Credit Cooperative (UDPSTECC) Board of Directors, Committee Members, Management, and Staff attended a three-day seminar on Financial Literacy, Risk, and Credit Management of Cooperatives. These Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) mandated seminars were managed and facilitated and facilitated by Negros Oriental Union of Cooperatives (NeOrUnCo). The three-in-one seminar was held at Royal Suites Inn, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on June 13-15, 2024.

Financial statements to stakeholders vary. From the members’ perspectives, it was more of the safety of investments, profitability, the effectiveness of management, and liquidity; to the creditors, FS has something to do with liquidity, profitability, safety of investment, and effectiveness of management; and to the management, FS deals with profitability, liquidity, the effectiveness of management, and safety of the investment.

One of the major considerations in managing the UDPSTECC, is risk management. It was given of great importance in the discussion. It was stressed that RM involves managing an appropriate balance between realizing opportunities for gains while minimizing losses.

UDPSTECC  has a board of directors who are committed, passionate, and attitude toward the effectiveness and efficiency of providing services to their clients, learned a lot from the topics discussed. Ma. Maya V. Tumalon PhD, MDM, Jupiter I. Maboloc PhD, Davilin B. Cuanan PhD, Anatolio G. Caderao, Lolito F. Boaquin, Beverly A. Atupan, and Renaldo A. Carillas are the BODs who have commitment, passion, and attitude (CPAs) to be of service for the betterment of Ubay District teachers, school leaders, and non-teaching personnel.

Evelyn P. Golosino, Manager; Salome F. Cutamora, Cashier; Gemma D. Tubo, Secretary, Brenda B. Soriso, Treasurer, Arielle C. Famador, Bookkeeper; Darcy Cutamora, Compliance Officer; and Edwin Durias, Collection Officer, showed commitment and competence in providing expected services to the clients.       Each district represented the different committees.
