Survey: Fear rate among Boholanos hiked

THE level of fear among the population is hiked to 29% in the March-April 2024, higher than 25% in April-May 2023 on safety and security situation, according to the Bohol Poll opinion survey conducted on March 23-April 22, 2024.

The 400 respondents at 100 each for Tagbilaran and the three districts responded to the question, “Sa among lugar, ang mga tawo kasagaran mahadlok maglakaw sa gabii tongud kay kuyaw o dili luwas.” (Most of the people are scared to roam during night since it’s not safe).

Bohol’s third congressional district had the highest increase, from 13% in 2023, it jumped to 38% this year. This is opposite to total first district at 33% in 2023 while 21% in 2024. The balance of first district is 38% last year down to 18% this year.

Tagbilaran respondents said they fear, posting 32% this year compared to last year’s24%.

Also, the 35-44 age group respondents of the question said they fear (25%) this year than (18%) in 2023; 18-24 age group, from 21% in 2023 to 35% this year.

There’s not much changes of fear factor of age group 45-above with 28% and 30% for 2023 and 2024, respectively.

On the question, “Sa among lugar, ang mga tawo kasagaran mahadlok nga adunay mga kawatan makasulod sa ilang balay,” there’s not much changes as the total province posted 55% and 54% for 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Third district respondents said they fear less now (44%) this year than last year’s 57% and class E with 51% and 33% for 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Among the classes, class ABC rated their fear level to33% this year from 15% last year.

The fear factor among the urban seemed no change at all with 28 in 2023 and 31 in 2024 and for rural,24% to 28% this year; class D,27% and 26% and among males, 20% and 21%. (rvo)
