BARANGAY Poblacion 3 emerged as the undisputed champion in both the Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown categories of Saulog Tagbilaran 2024, held on May 1, 2024, at the Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City.
Their captivating performance, paying homage to the city’s patron, Saint Joseph the Worker, captivated both the audience and judges, earning them a prestigious victory along with a bounty of rewards.
The grand champion received a total prize of P600,000 in cash, trophies, and a one-million-peso project dedicated to the barangay.
Adding to their triumph, Poblacion 3 also secured the Best in Choreography award for their outstanding artistic direction and execution. The honor included a cash prize of P20,000 dedicated to the talented choreographer behind their winning routine.
In the Ritual Showdown category, Barangay Tiptip claimed the second spot, earning commendable rewards of P250,000 in cash, a trophy, and a notable P500,000 worth of project.
Meanwhile, Barangay Cogon secured third place, garnering P200,000 in cash, a trophy, and an additional P300,000 project. Cogon also received the Best in Musicality award with P20,000 cash prize and a trophy dedicated to the instrumentalists.
Other notable winners included Barangay Poblacion 2, securing fourth place with a reward of P150,000 in cash and a trophy, and Barangay Dampas, clinching fifth place with P100,000 in cash and a trophy.
In the Street Dancing segment, Barangay Cogon captured the second spot, receiving P250,000 in cash and a trophy. Meanwhile, Barangay Tiptip secured third place, with a prize of P200,000 in cash and a trophy.
Additionally, Barangay Poblacion 2 claimed fourth place, receiving P150,000 in cash and a trophy, while Barangay Cabawan secured fifth place with a reward of P100,000 in cash and a trophy.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco who was the keynote speaker of the event stressed the significance of the Saulog Festival in building Bohol’s tourism identity.
The event was graced by other distinguished guests, including Senator Imee Marcos, House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar-Genuino, Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Vice Governor Dionisio Victor Balite, Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, San Miguel Corporation Vice President Ret. Col. Ariel Quirubin, DOT Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, OIC Assistant Secretary Judilyn Quiachon, Provincial Board Members and municipal mayors.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala, and Chief of Staff John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II, alongside all 15 Barangay Captains, officials, and contingents, extended their warmest welcomes to all guests and spectators.
Mayor Yap expressed her utmost pride in the vibrant display of talent and unity showcased by the participating barangays. She also expressed her gratitude to all the barangays officials, choreographers, performers, production staff, working committees and sponsors for their invaluable contributions in ensuring the resounding success of this event.
City Budget Officer Marysol Perocho, CPA, served as this year’s Saulog Tagbilaran Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown Chairperson, ensuring the smooth execution of the highly anticipated event.
