THE City Government of Tagbilaran, in partnership with the Bohol Paddlers Association, successfully hosted the Glow in the Dark Dragon Boat Festival on April 7, 2024, at the Bohol Tropics Resort Seafront.
Amidst the electrifying atmosphere, the Taloto Wild Dragons once again proved their prowess, emerging as the undisputed champions of the festival. The team showcased exceptional skill and determination, clocking in at an impressive 56 minutes and 99 seconds to clinch the top spot.
Following closely, the Ubujan Paddlers secured the second position with a commendable timing of 58 minutes and 15 seconds. The Mangga Paddlers demonstrated their strength and endurance, finishing in third place with a time of 59 minutes and 48 seconds.
Rounding up the top positions, the Poblacion 2 Berdugo Dragons put up a valiant effort, crossing the finish line in an admirable one hour and 33 seconds.
The event, which illuminated the Tagbilaran bay with bright blue, green, red, and yellow hues, saw enthusiastic participation from paddling teams across the different barangays of Tagbilaran City.
Mayor Jane Yap expressed her pride in the remarkable achievements of the participating teams and commended their dedication to the sport.
“This event fosters unity and promotes physical fitness among residents of Tagbilaran. Congratulations to the Taloto Wild Dragons for their outstanding performance, ” Mayor Yap said.
She also reiterated the City Government’s support for future sporting endeavors.
The Saulog Glow in the Dark Dragon Boat Festival gained popularity online and garnered national media attention, primarily due to the use of the glow-in-the-dark boats.
All these boats paddling their way to victory presented a sight to behold.
The event not only provided thrilling entertainment but also showcased the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the participants.
