Mayor Duallo gives premium to social services in his SOTA

BUENAVISTA Mayor Atty. Dave D. Duallo said that he gave much weight on the basic social services despite the decrease of the town’s share in National Tax Allocation (NTA, formerly Internal Revenue Allotment IRA) in his State of the Town Address (SOTA) during town’s 64th foundation celebration on Feb. 11.

He said his administration established the Mun. Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) as a full department. Appointment of its regular department head has been through. It boosts the increase in local and national Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS), provided assistive devices for Persons With Disabilities (PWD) and pension for senior citizens and assistance to single parents.

The increase in sustainable livelihood programs and successful implementation of KALAHI projects have been in place.

Health is wealth thus his administration has been putting much attention on this. He said Rural Health Unit (RHU) under the DTTB Program have been provided additional doctors. And facilitated the ongoing construction of Super Health Center, delivery of laboratory equipment for Super Health Center are among the health services. The accreditation in of RHU in Philhealth is also being considered apparently to avail of the agency’s services. Anti Dengue Campaign is without let-up.

Agriculture is one sector that most of the town’s populace heavily depend on. And it bore fruit as the town is National Awardee in RCEF Program on “libreng binhi ug abono” for registered farmers. His administration was able to increase of distribution of corn seeds and vegetable seeds, established new demonstration farm and center plus additional fish cages and fishing equipment to fisherfolks, the mayor said.

The creation of two school districts, opening of new municipal high school, construction and repair of public schools have been given attention as part of the education program of the town. Besides, the development and achievements of the town’s managed Buenavista Community College have been fulfilling.

Everybody adheres that there’s no development when there’s no peace and order. Hence, the increase in crime incidents made crime solution efficiency also increased. The mayor also noted what he considered as high accomplishment in the campaign against illegal drugs. The town’s performance earned the Outstanding Police Station in the Province and in the Region, he said. 

As for economy, the towns wanted to increase its local income. It tries to maintain the 200M annual budget for the last 3 years “which may qualify Buenavista to become a first class municipality under the Automatic Reclassification Law passed by Congress.” Increase in number of Business Establishments have also contributed to the economic growth of the town.

Under his administration, the town was able to reap the Gawad Kalasag Awardee for being a fully complaint MDRRMO, Financial Housekeeping Keeping National Passer.

Implementation of all local, provincial and national projects in Buenavista in terms of infrastructure has been successful.
