LADY Mayor Thamar Olaivar of Candijay town has come up with an idea that hopefully would reduce the use of plastic as water containers
Under her able administration, Olaivar said in her fb post “she provided the school kids in both private and public school with water tumblers”.
She pointed out that, “More than giving them tumblers, one of my goal is also to show these children what sustainability is… lessening our trash because now, I hope our children will limit their buying of bottled water and juice because they will be able to bring their own water tumbler and refill the same in school – parents, please partner with me on this, makakatipid pa po tayo.
“A total of 8,185 water tumblers were distributed to all Elementary and High School Students in Candijay for both Public and Private Schools,” she said.
The school-beneficiaries are: elementary schools of barangays Can-olin, Tawid, Pangpang, Panas, Cogtong National High, Bohol IFI Kindergarten School, Inc (Candijay), and St. Paulas Learning Center.
“If the kids are happy of the what they received “but I think, I am happy the most!” she said, adding that “Seeing the smiles on their faces and how excited they all are as they receive their tumblers makes my heart so full”.
She said that the tumblers, which can be used for both cold and hot water in it, would help cool them down as the on-going hot days as a result of the El Nino.
She thanked Kag Jojo Sales, Brgy. Councils and SKs of each Barangay and Parents-Teachers Association Fed President Epay Bernales, saying “nahuman na ta sa akong Early Christmas Gift sa ating mga anak.” (rvo)
