Mayor Jane Yap represented by City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha and Ms. Jeanette Busano of the City Planning and Development Office received the awards during the Central Visayas awarding ceremony on November 17, 2023 at Mezzo Hotel, Cebu City.

The city received a total of six awards from DTI including 10th Place for Overall Most Competitive City recognition; 4th Place as Most Competitive in Government Efficiency; 7th Place as Most Competitive in Infrastructure; 9th Place as Most Competitive in Resiliency; 10th Place as Most Competitive in Innovation; and 10th Place in Most Improved Local Government Unit (LGU).

In receiving the awards, Mayor Yap emphasized the significance of this recognition, saying, “We are elated and honored to receive these six awards in the 2023 CMCI survey. It is a testament to the collective efforts of our community and the dedication of our public servants. These accolades inspire us to continue working towards the holistic development of Tagbilaran. Together, we are building a city that stands out not only for its friendly and peaceful people but for its vibrant and competitive spirit.”

The CMCI, an annual ranking developed by the National Competitiveness Council, assesses and recognizes the competitiveness of Philippine cities and municipalities across various categories: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.

This recognition acts as an ongoing motivation for local governments to refine their operational systems and databases, enabling them to gauge their competitiveness relative to other entities.

Being acknowledged as a competitive LGU holds substantial weight for investors seeking optimal sites for their projects or business ventures.

It reflects a commitment to efficiency as well as, a valuable benchmark in attracting potential investments.
