Bohol welcomes 6th run of 5150 triathlon

BOHOL Provincial Officials led by Governor Aris Aumentado, represented by Vice Governor Dionisio Victor Balite together with Second District Congresswoman Vanessa Aumentado welcomed organizers, guests, and participants in the 6th run of the 5150 Triathlon during a press conference held at the Bellevue Resort Pavillion on July 8, 2023, a day before race day.

The IRONMAN Group and Sunrise Events President Princess Galura said over 600 triathletes registered for the 5150 triathlon and the Go for Gold Sunrise Sprint.

In the second year of its participation in the Sandugo celebration, the 5150 Triathlon is a demonstration of the Sandugo which honors the first International Treaty of Friendship and a showcase of the province’s arts, culture and heritage, Sandugo Committee representative John Maraguinot stated.

Cong. Aumentado for her part, thanked Sun Life and the IRONMAN Group for consistently choosing Bohol as a venue for their activity, helping Bohol tourism get back on its feet. She also highlighted Bohol’s recent designation as UNESCO Global Geopark.

Galura congratulated Bohol on this designation and said this only proves the province is the best destination, having been the home of 5150 for 10 years.

“Bohol is the best race station in our calendar with the province’s world-class beaches, first-class hotels, and its new airport that is able to bring in athletes’ equipment and gear,” she added.

The 5150 event allows opportunities for new triathlon enthusiasts and regulars coming back like Sun Life endorser Piolo Pascual who is racing this year along with fellow endorser, Matteo Guidicelli.

Also present during the press conference were LGU Panglao representative Dr. Betelgeuse Arcay, Sun Life Brand and Marketing Services Head Maria Carla Gonzales Chong, Parable Marketing Vice President Jeremy Go, and Bellevue Resort Manager Andrew Fernandez.

The 5150 short-course race is comprised of a 1.5km open-water swim, 40km bike, and 10km run and also features a short-distance event, dubbed as S2, with a 750m open-water swim, 20km bike, and 5km run that will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

The 5150 is part of the Tigi stream of this year’s Sandugo that celebrates Bohol and beyond. (PIMO/LMS)
