2022 Batang Pinoy Medalists
receive cash incentives from PGBh

CASH AID.  Medalists of the 2022 Batang Pinoy National Games receive cash incentives from the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Provincial Youth Development Office. Handing over the cash incentives to the young athletes, in the presence of their parents, is Governor Aris Aumentado, who stressed his commitment to providing more support to the province’s sports program.

BATANG Pinoy 2022 medalists received cash incentives from the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Provincial Youth Development Office.

Gov. Aris Aumentado distributed these cash incentives to 14 medalists who competed in the 2022 Batang Pinoy in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, with Php3,000.00 for gold medalists, Php2,000.00 for silver, and Php1,000.00 for bronze. Bohol garnered 14 medals in Karate, Weightlifting, Obstacle Race Course, Swimming, and Athletics. The incentives were distributed on Monday, February 20, at the Carlos P. Garcia Hall of the New Capitol Building.

Gov. Aumentado spoke with the athletes and assured them that the Provincial Government, through PYDO, will continue to invest in Bohol’s sports programs. PYDO OIC Metodio Maraguinot Jr. said their office is looking to collaborate with the private sector to raise funds to support preparations.

A Sports Development Council is in the works for this year, with PYDO tapping into different sports organizations to come up with ideas and programs to develop more Olympic-calibre athletes who can represent the Philippines in various international athletic competitions.

Maraguinot said their office is streamlining guidelines and standards for provincial competitions to be up to par with international sporting competitions such as the Summer Olympics, the Southeast Asian Games, or the Asian Games.

PYDO will continue its financial support for athletes by increasing its funding package to include training, additional uniforms, travel expenses, and consultations.

PGBh hopes that with financial support for training, Boholano athletes will feel more empowered to do well in their respective competitions. (PiMO/GMC)
