ANOTHER road concreting project in San Jose Street is nearing completion as the City Engineering Office (CEO) has not waivered its mandated task. City Engineer Teodoro Estoque bared that this 2022, major ticket projects are also lined up for completion, including the Proposed Tenement Housing in Brgy. Dampas.

City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap convened the officers and members of the City Housing Board to finalize the plans for the socialized housing. Representatives from the National Housing Authority (NHA), Social Housing Corporation Inc. (SHFCI), Urban Poor organizations, and City Government department heads discussed the details of the project.

A resolution was passed allowing the use of the Socialized Housing Fund for the initiative. The CEO is the main lead for the project, mainly responsible in the design and site development plans.  

In 2021, the CEO also delivered major infrastructure projects such as the storm drainage along Ligason Street. Major road concreting projects were also completed in Dagohoy Circumferential Road, Espuelas Street, Isabo Street, G. Visarra Street, and Upper Salazar Street.  The CEO also completed the repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance of asphalt roads, gravel roads, drainage, and vegetation control in the city. The street lights and artesian wells were also taken charge of the unit.

The rehabilitation of the Cogon Public Market was also completed, along with the construction of the CDRRMO Command Center. The landscaping of Tagbilaran City Hall, including the colorful water fountain and green park was also finished. The pavement in the City Health Office waiting area was also cemented. The closure and rehabilitation of the Dampas Dumpsite Phase II which was critical in the approval of the 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan was also completed.

The City Engineering also repainted the City Social Welfare and Development Office, constructed the comfort rooms in the PAGLAUM center, completed the Health Center in Brgy. Poblacion I, renovated the Integrated Bus Terminal, completed the Tiptip Birthing Facility, and renovated the Tagbilaran City Public Market.

The CEO is also busy in the upgrading of facilities like the rehabilitation of the roof in the City Central Market which began its construction two weeks ago. To date, the Green Park in the Dampas Market is on-going construction. (Jeanette Busano)
