THE DIWA party-list has been booted out of its office housed in an edifice it built on a lot allegedly owned by the provincial government near the new Capitol in barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City by the past provincial administration.
This surfaced when its district coordinators Mr. and Mrs. Mejorada told a small crowd of this incident during the farm-to-market road (FMR) turnover ceremony in barangay Abucay Sur, Sikatuna, Bohol on Friday, October 28, 2022.
Mejorada with his wife, Mrs. Mejorada, sister of Atty. Leopoldo Blanco, Jr, DIWA provincial coordinator, said of the ejection that “tungod sa color sa politika.” Mrs. Mejorada confirmed what his husband has said during the ceremony.
For now, the party-list office is located at the La Tierra Blanca along Calceta road, Tagbilaran City.
Both admitted that they failed to make the DIWA win here in the last elections. But despite this, the party-list continues to advance its advocacy to bring in assistance in the form construction of infrastructure in roads and medical assistance.
They said that the delay in the turnover of FMR was also caused by the pandemic that made the entire province at standstill.
DIWA turned over the 160-meter long FMR after it has been concreted to the tune of P3 million. The couple also bared that each congressional district can avail of the party-list benevolence, like the first district benefited from its P300 million of various projects and assistance in the last 12 years they have been serving.
The continuation of DIWA’s assistance to the province remain steadfast as it is also been relying on the help of Senator Mark Villar, whose wife is the sister of Congressman Michael Aglipay of the DIWA party-list.
There are still turnover of projects, like the one in barangay Talisay, island of Cabilao, loon, Bohol, that need to be done.
The couple said that it is eyeing on extending an additional P5 million for road concreting here that would connect the barangay road leading to the Mirrors of the World in barangay Libjo of this town.
Executive assistant to the governor, Gil Bongato relayed to the people here that the new administration under the Aumentado-Balite dispensation would extend whatever help it can regardless of political color.
Abucay barangay chairman Gil Elle thanked the party-list for the FMR as it would never be muddy again in that specific portion of the road.
Also present and witnesses during the turnover were DIWA office administrator Pinky Blanco (daughter of Atty. Blanco) , Engr. Ruben de los Reyes of the Department of Public works and Highways DPWH) engineering district I, representative of Sikatuna Mayor Jecjec Ellorimo, barangay Abucay Norte chairman Eugenio Baugbog, barangay Libjo chairperson and some people.
