“Everybody, every family, not just household, must benefit” – Mayor Ayuban: EQUITABLE AID

LOAY Mayor Atty. Lahar Ayuban bats for equitable aid distribution to all local government units (LGUs) amid the energy crisis harassing the province.

He said that it is but understandable that some LGUs don’t want to receive any help from any national government since only few receive the financial or otherwise aid.

He said that what the provincial government may contribute, LGUs may fill in the gap. It is better that no help at all be given if only some sectors of the community will be benefited.

He stressed that in this very time of crisis, everybody, every family, not just household, must benefit, and no one should be left behind.

This surfaced during the recent meeting of the task force created by the governor.

And Gov. Aris Aumentado agreed to the idea of Mayor Ayuban as the province is considering the proposal of Mayor Ayuban, who is in his last term in office.

The idea appeared to be backed up by numerous social media posts. Some of them questioned the aid distribution to only a few, like the P5K to all qualified divers/operators in the city and province. Most of the posts stressed that everybody paid taxes, hence the question.

The provincial government is set to utilize the P196 million from the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) courtesy of the President’s Office.

The plan is to disseminate at least 10 kilos of rice per family.

The League of Municipalities of the Philippines Bohol chapter passed a Resolution appealing to the National Government to include Habal-Habal Drivers for the Cash Relief Assistance Program of Department of Social Welfare and Development.

In the same vein, LMP Bohol passed a separate Resolution requesting the National Government to amend the Financial Assistance to LGU’s (FALGU) Rice Distribution Program Policy to include all households/families regardless of socio-economic status, according to Catigbian Mayor Benjie Oliva, who attended the monthly meeting of the town mayors on Friday.
