Another youth program in Tagbilaran unfolds

THE City Government of Tagbilaran thru the City Youth Development Office (CYDO) partnered with USAID Opportunity 2.0, a five-year (2020-2025) initiative aimed to improve the learning and earning outcomes of out-of-school Filipino youth by working with key stakeholders from government, industry and academia. It is geared to strengthen the education, training and employment systems at the national and local level. These include DepEd’s enhanced Alternative Learning Systems program, TESDA’s skills training programs, and local government programs for youth.

Project Trabaho Abante ug Oportunidad para sa Kabatan-onan or TABOK (which means to cross), is another grant project of Youthlead Philippines under the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Program in partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran. The project aims to support in providing second chance opportunities to out-of-school youth in Tagbilaran City through quality education and learning experiences, inspire life-long learning, and lead to an improved education, livelihood, or employment opportunities. The program’s Stakeholder Kick-off Conference unfolded on April 22, 2022. Project Manager Emma Mae Bantugan welcomed the guests, partners, and staff and articulated the purpose of the gathering. Youthlead Philippines (YLP) Secretary-General Florencio Salvo recognized everyone present. Vice-President Nesie Fe Binatero and Program and Training Services Officer Rey Anthony Sapid gave the overview of Project TABOK, respectively, and emphasized the important role of the six barangay partners to the project. President Willian Aranilla, on the other hand, facilitated the program.

Just recently, twenty-three (23) TESDA Online Program Batch 3 Learners participated and completed the Pathways Orientation for Youth, Career Talk, and Higher-level Education Readiness and Training Orientation for Upskilling and Multiskilling held at Tagbilaran City College from April 29-30, 2022. The completers will soon advance to further programs including the work-ready now training, peer coaching, and post-training opportunities.
