DEPARTMENT of Education Usec. Trygve Olaivar, a Candijay, Bohol resident, has denied any participation in the alleged kickback as alleged by DPWH Usec. Robreto Bernardo in recent Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearing over the flood control projects irregularities.
“I deny the allegations made and want to state clearly that I welcome any investigation regarding this matter,” he said in a statement thru his wife, Candijay Mayor Thamar Olaivar.
He said that he “will voluntarily take a lave of absence from my post and am ready to fully cooperate with any and all proceedings” to make way for a fair inquiry.
Former DPWH Usec. Roberto Bernardo told the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that “he and Olaivar had agreed on a 15 percent kickback which was allegedly delivered to Olaivar in Makati and other locations,” Politiko news online reported.
Bernardo alleged that Olaivar “called him to discuss unprogrammed funds under the Office of the Executive Secretary. According to Bernardo, Olaivar requested a list of projects. The projects, submitted by former DPWH Bulacan 1st District engineer Henry Alcantara reportedly totaled P2.85 billion.”
This happened while Olaivar was the employee of then Senator Bong Revilla. He was also working with then Senator Sonny Angara.
Meanwhile, Olaivar was not included in the filing of charges against a total of 21 persons who have been recommended by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for prosecution for their alleged involvement in the flood control projects scandal, Politiko said. (Ric Obedencio)
