WAS it a coincidence or just pure luck of fate for Miss Bohol 2025 and Miss Bohol 2024?
Miss Jacky Fe Tahakim Melencion of Dauis town wore number 14 when she captured Miss Bohol 2025 crown during the coronation on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Wisdom School gym.
The same number that Miss Garcia-Hernandez Cayle Tejano Tentativa sported when she won the said title in 2024, Melencion told this writer in exclusive interview.
Melencion, who modelled the outfit design in the name of Dauis town, clinched the costume design grand prize in Boholana 2025 held in Inabanga on July 5, 2025. Tentativa achieved the same award in 2024 for Boholana held in Jagna, Bohol.
Melencion added that they both adjudged as Darling of the Press and were adjudged Best in Interview. They have the same team of make-up artists.
Miss Melencion the second Miss Dauis, but the first Badjao to become a titleholder. The first being Queenie Fullante in 2014. Melencion was crowned July 19, the same date Fullante wore the crown. She said that this is history “repeats itself.”
The first Pinay Miss Universe, Gloria Diaz, was crowned in July 19, 1969, the same day an American astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon, report said.
Completing the royal court were: Miss Buenavista, Katrina May Tabigue, 1st runner-up; Miss Tagbilaran, Mary Love Lopez, 2nd RU; Miss Guindulman, Katherine Topsnik, 3rd RU; and Miss Talibon, Rose Cabando, 4th RU.
Melencion is elected a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officer and she’s taking her third year in medical technology at Holy Name University as a scholar of the Badjao Bridge Philippines, Incorporated that supports her studies, financially. She thanked the BBPI.
She strongly advocated for education for her tribe to be part of the mainstream society by using her influence and this platform contribute in this endeavor.
Miss Tagbilaran Mary Love Lopez settled in Best in Swimwear and Best in Evening Gown; Miss Guindulman Katherine Topsnik, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Talibon Rose Cabando, Best in Production Choice award with Php7,000 each.
Miss Panglao, Kimberly Grace Giroud, Miss Congeniality; Miss Anda, Reniela Marie Barniego, Fan Favorite, thru highest online votes.
Melencion received Php100,000; first runner-up, ₱70,000; second RU ₱60,000; third RU, ₱40,000; fourth RU, ₱30,000. Consolation prize of ₱20,000 each of the non-winners.
Second District Congw. Maria Vanessa Aumentado chairs the Miss Bohol Pageant.
Gov. Aris Aumentado delivered his words of inspiration to the candidates before the competition started.
