IF one visits a household and nobody receives him nor entertains him into the residence, there could be something wrong either in the host family or to the visiting personality.
It is either the visitor, for some reasons, who is not welcomed as a guest to the family or the host family just do not like the visiting personality.
Taken otherwise, if the visiting personality is loved, respected, and treasured by the host family, laughter and loud voices of admiration will engulf the whole atmosphere.
To the extent that rules of conduct in most cases are usually breached while inside the residence of the receiving family.
Toasts of drinks and offers of sumptuous snacks become the order of the day. Most especially if both parties had not seen each other for quite a long time already.
Has this incident really transpired?
Indeed, it happened.
Right here in our province or somewhere in the archipelago?
It actually happened right in our noses!
And, kindly take note, this was relayed to Short Cuts just recently by one of his trusted and loyal friends.
As to whether the relayed information is reliable or not, Short Cuts must take his exception…
This is what happened to an incumbent public official of the province who tried to visit his ’friends’ in the barangays of one of the biggest local government units in the Second Congressional District of the province.
Thru the trusted political leaders of this incumbent public official, he tried to convince the barangay officials to attend a meeting at the Barangay Hall of all the barangay officials. Also included to attend in that planned meeting were some of his big political personalities in the barangay during the previous electoral exercise.
The purpose of the meeting?
This incumbent public official of the province would just like to deliver some ‘goodies‘ to the barangays.
Was this for the second or third time already that this public official would like to deliver some ‘goodies’ to the barangays of that particular local government unit?
Definitely NOT!
There was never an instance that this incumbent public official had ever offered to the local government unit some projects for the last how many months after the 2022 local elections.
And worse. That was for the first time that this incumbent public official ever appeared in their barangay after the election!
The next query could be asked: What could have been the ulterior motive for these ‘goodies’?
For reelection?
To Short Cuts, this could be adhered to with logical reasons. This could aptly be understood even to a BULOK or BUGO considering that election time was approaching. Every politico was already preparing for the event.
And, surely this incumbent public official is into it also. So, that could be the main reason for the barangay meeting as proposed by the incumbent public official.
Back to the issue. Was the event successful?
Perhaps the barangay officials had sensed the ulterior motives of the meeting. To their ‘binaryo nga pagsabot’, this incumbent public official is now playing politics.
As a consequence, not a single barangay official ever attended the meeting. This incumbent public official and his party were ONLY the ones occupying the barangay hall on that particular scheduled meeting.
“Walay batasan ning taga (REFERRING TO THE BARANGAY) ”! Bisan ug ako na ang nagpatawag dili gihapon mo-atendir”.
These were the almost exact words uttered by this public official, according to what an observer overheard and as relayed to Short Cuts.
And, this incident did not happen only in one barangay of the municipality.
It took place in eight barangays of the town! And after those tragic incidents, no more schedule of meeting in the municipality of the same nature was ever made.
Any guess on the name of this incumbent public official?
