A CERTAIN Camilo Tabada. a.k.a “Eloy” of Trinidad town, Bohol, debunked CIDG statement that he was collared in Talibon for a pending case. “It’s not true,” he said in an exclusive interview.

His family has vehemently denied that he is arrested in Bohol as a finance officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) based on a PhilStar news bylined by Emmanuel Tupas that came out on May 25, 2025.

No one from the Crime and Investigation Detective Group (CIDG) come to arrest him as the news wanted to portray. “The CIDG allegation that I was nabbed or collared is not true,” he said.

The news carried only the first name as ‘Carmilo’ but he believes that he’s the one being referred to, Tabada said in an exclusive interview. For this, he sent a letter to the editor to correct this false news, he said.

“I am Carmilo Tabada of barangay Poblacion, Trinidad, Bohol. I am a barangay councilor of Barangay Poblacion since 2018 and currently serving my second term as a barangay councilor. In your news article, although it only mentioned “Carmilo” without a surname, it clearly pertains to me.”

He said that he received a subpoena from the Regional Trial Court 101, where his case being heard thru Judge Azucena Credo.

He said that he voluntarily came to the said court to post bail of P150,000.00 for his pending case in said court. “The fact is, I voluntarily presented myself in Court and to the Chief of Police in Talibon to immediately post my bail last May 20, 2025 upon learning a warrant was issued.”

Tabada admitted to be a former worker for farmers who are fighting their land rights assertion and sustainable food production for many years, until I was elected as barangay Councilor of Poblacion, Trinidad, Bohol in 2018. He was charged with possession of firearms by police and CIDG after his house was ransacked but his case was dismissed for lack of proof.

“Trusting that the mainstream media should not be a tool of ‘fake news and information” peddler, I hope my side of the story will be given weight to ensure my safety and integrity.  I am very hopeful of your favorable action,” he said in his letter.

The “CIDG Bohol Provincial Field Unit, with the help of the local police arrested the suspect in his hiding place in Bgy. Poblacion in Talibon, Bohol on Tuesday on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act No. 10168 or The Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012 issued by the Talibon Regional Trial Court Branch 101,” CIDG press statement said.

CIDG Bohol filed a criminal complaint against the suspect for violation of RA 10168 for dealing with property or funds of terrorist groups designated by the government and for providing funds to support the operations of the CPP-NPA-NDF in Bohol province, which Tabada strongly denied. (rvo)
