Magsaysay Mayor bares a year of accomplishments

MAYOR Charlie Buhisan of the municipality of Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental has revealed his administration’s accomplishments in just a year, 2023-2024 to be specific, according to facebook post of Dudz JFG Buhisan.

It proudly garnered an award or National Awardee of the Seal of Good Local Governance and Under the Buhisan’s dispensation, the town’s status has been raised to 2nd class from 4th Class Municipality, all for the first time in the history of Magsaysay.

These awards transcend Buhisan’s admin’s consistent commitment to advancing the serious development of the town consistent with the vision and goals of the town’s development agenda.

It’s not only Mayor Buhisan’s strong determination to the town to be developed, though slowly but also reflects the municipal officials and employees work ethic, perseverance, and dedication to public service. As it also continues to serve as an inspiration to every living Magsaysayanon and stakeholders alike. His leadership has not only elevated the town’s status, but also made a lasting impact on the town’s overall development.

Mayor Buhisan’s efforts have bear fruition with almost all spheres in good governance are tapped like, infrastructure, social and health services, education, agriculture, livelihood, environment/tourism, and partnerships.

Just to cite a few are the following infra projects completed: IP Housing Project in Barangay Tama; P40M Construction of Solar Water System in Barangays Damayuhan, Kauswagan, Kandiis, and Bonifacio; Construction of 136L.M. Drainage Canal in Barangay San Vicente; P6M Construction of Dalangpanan Building in Barangay Tibon-Tibon;P 3.9M Farm-to-Market Road in Barangay Cabalawan; P2.9M Farm-to-Market Road in Barangay Gumabon; P3.9M Farm-to-Market Road in Barangay Abunda; P995K Street Lights in Barangay Gumabon; and P991K Street Lights in Barangay Mindulao.

In terms of emergency response under the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Officer Neil Obedencio, some P12M Civic/Evac Center (sourced from PAGCOR) has been put in place.

P51M Mega Evac Center (sourced from DPWH); P12.5M Construction of a Multi-Purpose Center in Barangay Cabubuhan;  P3M Evacuation Center in Barangay Cabubuhan Newly Rehabilitated and Fully-Functional 24hr MDRRMO Operations Center; P12M Civic/Evac Center (sourced from PAGCOR); P51M Mega Evac Center (sourced from DPWH); P12.5M Construction of a Multi-Purpose Center in Barangay Cabubuhan; and P3M Evacuation Center in Barangay Cabubuhan; and Newly Rehabilitated and Fully-Functional 24hr MDRRMO Operations Center.

Health is wealth as they have been saying all along. And Mayor Buhisan has given this a top priority, like Establishment of the Animal Bite Center.  Some of the projects included Philhealth Accredited Maternal and Child Package, Philhealth Accredited New Born Screening, Philhealth Accredited TB Dots, Philhealth Accredited Animal Bite Center and Relaunching of the Teen Center. Social services are also important, like providing P7M Worth of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations; P1.4M Cash for Work Program, P17.9M Social Pension Benefits, P3.5M Worth of Food Packs Distributed (to date) to VAWC Victims, Solo Parents, Farmers and PWD, and P290K worth of Sustainable Livelihood Programs.

Agriculture is said to be the backbone of every town. Thus, Buhisan’s admin also focus on attending this, like P46.8M Integrated White Copra and Coconut Oil Processing Facility. Others include: P23.5M Philippine Rural Development Programs for Farmers (Coconut Sauce Processing and Marketing Subproject); P1.6M Norwegian Fish Cage with 11,000 Bangus Fingerlings; P5.8M Corn Seeds and Fertilizers; P3.2M Hauling Truck; and 2M Cash-For-Work for Project Lawa in Barangays Mahayahay, Katipunan, and Gumabon.

 Buhisan’s admin has provided the Employment Opportunities for 2,000 individuals for livelihood, aside from P8.8M Tulong sa Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers; P300k-worth Benefits for SPES Beneficiaries; and P800K from the Financial Assistance Grant Under the PMU-LEAP.

So the students may no longer spend efforts and money to go to other places to study, Buhisan’s admin has worked tirelessly to put up the P97.9M 4-Storey Magsaysay College Building with the very first President of Magsaysay College in the person of Dr. Ricky Tadlip. And to cite a few development in education, his admin has also raised P20M Multi-Purpose Building at Mahayahay Elementary School; and P17M Construction of a 2-Storey 4 Classroom School Building in Kandiis Intergrated School. Others education-related infra and programs are also in place.

As far as environment and tourism are concerned Mayor Buhisan has put in place the P6M Construction of Sanitary Landfill in Barangay San Isidro. Others environment concern include; P300k Construction of Centralized Material Recovery Facility; P1M Rehabilitation of the Hawksbill Rehab Center in Barangay Kandiis; P4M Eco-Tourism Adventure Park in La Victoria, Barangay Kauswagan; P4M Rural Beautification Project in Barangay Tinaan; P1.7M Construction of Magsaysay Dive Shop; and P1M Phase 7 Construction of the Magsaysay Public Plaza Stage.
