THE program entitled Linking Standards and Quality Practice (LiSQuP) is the Philippine Normal University’s response to the call of the Department of Education to focus work on teachers and school leaders to address the growing demands to upskill education leaders. (https://openpraxis.org › articles › openpraxis.16.2.586). LiSQuP is a virtual scholarship program offered to DepEd supervisors, principals, and classroom teachers from the different regions in the country.
LiSQuP started in October, 2021 and hopefully the scholars will graduate in 2025.
Six scholars from the DepEd SDO Bohol were given the opportunity to be part of the above-mentioned scholarship program. Three of them are supervisors, two school leaders, and one kindergarten teacher. The mode of learning is pure virtual.
One of the SDO Bohol scholars enrolled in PhD Counseling. She experienced a lot of concerns, issues, and difficulties during the virtual instructions and accomplishing tasks.
There were times that she thought of not pursuing the course anymore, but fortunately, she was able to ask assistance from experts. Oftentimes from Dr. Julie C. Maestrado, RGC, and Julius J. Igot PhD. A combination of theories and statistical concepts made her journey a lighter one.
Luckily, she is still part of the scholarship program. Now in her plight for the comprehensive examinations. One of the highlights of the program is to present research outputs from the different learning areas.
The activity is a hybrid one. There were in-person attendees at the venue, and online participants. Approximately, the activity was attended by more than two hundred participants from the different institutions. Some of them came from colleges and universities (both public and private), and from the department of education.
She presented her research which was conducted as part of the requirements in one of her subjects where she obtained a final rating of 10.
Participants of the said three-day activity showed interest of her study that has something to do with mental health management status in selected schools. They even raised questions to clarify doubts and some gray areas concerning mental health management. Thus, making the researcher fulfilled with all the efforts exerted. Thus, this humble researcher can truly say that virtual or distance learning is fun, though the learners are miles away from each other.
