COOPERATIVE Month, also known as National Cooperative Month, is celebrated worldwide in October each year. It aims to: educate people on the advantages cooperatives offer for both social and economic progress, highlight the benefits of the cooperative business model, and recognize the achievements of cooperative organizations. The Coop Month Culmination Program 2024, with the theme “Stronger Together Today for a Brighter Tomorrow”. started with the arrival and registration of the participants. Invocation, singing of hymns, and the singing of the cooperative hymn followed. Vice Governor Tita V. Baja, gave her welcome address. Board Member Lucille Lagunay gave opening remarks and the introduction of guests. Hon Felimon Espares, Congressman, NATCCO gave an inspirational message. Governor Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado expressed his gratitude for all the active cooperatives who took the lead in the financial management among the members. CDA Regional Director VII, Cristina took the lead in the recognition of best performing cooperatives.

Two of the highlights of the said coop month culmination sponsored by the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC) are the folk dance and balitaw / love song competitions. Ubay Municipal Cooperative Development Council (MCDC) was represented by the Ubay Public School Teachers and Employees Credit Cooperative (UDPSTECC) members. The school heads participated the folk dance; Ma. Maya V. Tumalon, Josephine S. Boyboy, Letecia P. Reloba, Nida A. Alacida, Wenie D. Olpindo, Cipriana B. Amolat, Lorna C. Boc, Mary Joan A. Mirontos, Rochelle G. Mercado, Rochelle B. Impang, Elizabeth V. Dumapias, Ligaya C. Cutamora, Nino G. Lagumbay, Mhel A. Mendez, Melencio D. Bucio Jr., Diomedes Montero, Julieto Manuta, and Junvic Handugan.  Lucille O. Namoco and Lolito F. Boaquin from Ubay 3 District participated in the balitaw/love song competition.

Luckily for both categories, UDPSTECC was recognized as first-place winner. The champion of the folk dance category is from Carmen, Bohol cooperative, while the champion of the balitaw / love song is the representative from the Bohol Public School Teachers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (BPSTEMPC), Anecita Molina and Joel Bagtasos.
