IN A stunning display of skill and determination, Tagbilaran City once again triumphed in the 2024 D-League Governor’s Cup, securing back-to-back wins.
Team Asenso Pa More Tagbilaran emerged as the Champion of the Senior Division and placed second in the Junior Division, marking another historic win for the city.
As the Senior Division Champion, Tagbilaran City received a cash prize of P500,000 and a P5 million grant for city projects.
The Junior Division’s second-place finish earned the team a P150,000 cash prize and a P3 million project grant.
The exciting Game 5 showdown in the Senior Division, which concluded on September 30, 2024, saw Team Asenso Pa More facing off against Team Arriba of Mabini in a fiercely contested battle.
Held at the Calape Sports Center in Calape, Bohol, the final game was the culmination of weeks of high-intensity competition, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, both staunch supporters of the city’s athletes, proudly received the championship trophy and prizes together with the whole team during the event’s closing ceremony.
Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and officials of the Provincial Government of Bohol personally handed over the awards, highlighting the achievements of Tagbilaran City’s basketball teams.
Mayor Yap expressed her immense pride in the team, saying, “This victory is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and team spirit of our athletes, coaches and staff. Their commitment to excellence reflects the spirit of Tagbilaran, where we strive to excel in everything we do. We are extremely proud to bring home this honor once again for our beloved city.”
