UBAY, a first-class municipality in the province of Bohol that is expanding quickly. The municipality’s population, estimated by the Philippine Statistics Authority at 81,799 in 2020, is expected to increase to 100,000 by 2030. Ubay is located in the northeast of the province. It has a contested area of 5.87 square kilometers (587.8688 hectares) with neighboring Municipalities and an uncontested territory of 258.132847 square kilometers (25,813.2847 hectares), according to a certification from the DENR’s Land Management Bureau (LMB). Stretching along the coast, it is 38 miles (61 kilometers) long.
The municipality celebrated its 177th Founding Anniversary on September 1, 2024. DepEd Undersecretary was invited as the 177th Founding Anniversary of Ubay as Guest Speaker, quoted from his message, “as public servants, we must serve with competence, compassion, and understanding the unique needs of the individuals”.

Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara sponsored the bill for the conversion of the Municipality of Ubay as’ “Science City of Ubay” Don Emilio Del Valle will be repaired through the mandate of Pres. It is with great honor and pride (with his permission to highlight some of significant milestones in the life of USec Olayvar. He graduated from college in 2004 and studied information Science at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. After graduation, he immediately joins the government service ans assured his first post as a member of the Appointment, Review and Investigation Services of the Commission on Appointments in 2005.
In 2007, he transferred to the Commission on Elections and worked with Commissioner Nic Ferrer. In 2009, he joined the Office of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group under the supervision of General Danilo Mangala (who is also a Mason). It was in 2012, where he began his service to the Senate of the Philippines under the Office of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
In 2016, Mr. Olayvar started working with the Angaras under the former Senator Edgardo J. Angara. He learned a great deal from the Angara Patriarch until he eventually transferred to the Office of Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara as Director IV for Political and Constituency Affairs.
He was appointed as Undersecretary of the Department of Education on August 2, 2024. To date, Mr Trygve L. Olayvar has served the country for nineteen (19) years, bringing with him his expertise in the political arena and public service. (source; Salde Maurice O. Calia, EA on Tourism Affairs).
The celebration started with a Holy Mass officiated by Msgr Jonathan “Jones” A. Pacudan. A welcome message by Vice Mayor Victor Bonghanoy. Mun Mayor Constantino H. Reyes gave his State of the Municipality Address and presented the different accomplishments under his leadership. Governor Aristotle Erico C. Aumentado gave an inspirational message for the Ubanayanons to continue their good deeds in this time of difficulties.
