TRINIDAD, Bohol – The administration of Mayor Atty. Roberto “Ondoy” Castano Cajes of this town and the opposition led by Juanilo “Johnny” Gonzales Orioque have categorically voiced support for the administration and reelection of Gov. Aris Aumentado and the governor’s wife Congresswoman Vanvan C. Aumentado in the 2025 mid-term elections.
No “ifs” and “buts” in supporting the governor and the lady solon in the second district, according to the avid supporter of the group, who did not want to be named.
This came after the original administration of Cajes and original opposition led by Orioque have forged a deal to meet half-way with the ultimate vision to unify and to push for the continuation of development that the town is now experiencing under the Cajes administration.
The group of Orioque decided to join forces with Cajes clique as “if it cannot lick them, join them,” just to accomplish the goal of continued development and unity of the people.
Though it’s not yet official, The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) impliedly declared the likely candidates of the group, called “Alayon Trinidad” by raising the candidates’ hands infront of over estimated 300 plus supporters of Cajes and Orioque.
The “Alayon Trinidad” presented its candidates led by Mayor Cajes with his running-mate Joan Robie Cajes-Imboy (vice-mayor) and the eight bets for councilor: Johnny Orioque, Agapito Cambangay, Lionil Molos, Christian Auxilio, Michael Del Rosario Lao, (son of then mayors Ondoy and Bebe del Rosario Cajes), Elmer Gabica, Sito Revillo and Gilbert Boncales, (the brother of then Vice-Mayor Leo Boncales).
The traditional raising of hands of the candidates was done by PFP officers and campaign manager Dr. Elmer Nuez and his wife Dr. Hannah Nuez.
Former Mayor Bebe del Rosario Cajes, wife of the incumbent mayor, and Jethro Lim Imboy, husband of Joan Imboy, attended the gathering.
The organizers gave each candidate ample time to express their respective perspective on the unification of then warring Cajes and Orioque’s groups during the gathering held at the Honeycomb resort in barangay Guinobatan.
Several sectoral representatives expressed statements of solidarity and support for the “Alayon Trinidad” during the same meeting.
The mayor described the forging of unity as “this is just the beginning.”
It will be recalled that Orioque tried to persuade the Trinidad folk to put him on the mayoralty seat — against then Mayor Bebe Cajes in 2019 and Ondoy Cajes in 2022. All attempts, however, failed. (rvo)
