MUNICIPAL Mayor Fernando “Eping” Estavilla of President Carlos P. Garcia and Mayor King Ang of Dimiao have repeated the call on barangay folk for continued cleanliness in their respective surroundings to get rid of breeding places of the dengue producing mosquitoes.

The call came as the number of dengue cases has ballooned to 5,126 cases as of August 17, 2024 from the other week’s 4,484 cases.

The towns of CPG and Dimiao each has 25 cases for the period January 1 to August 10, 2024, based on PHO’s Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU).

“Since paglingkod niya as Mayor in 2016, ang iyang thrust is kalimpiyo man gyud. He made it clear thru his program on Waste Management,” Glenn Alan Guarin Boyles, municipal official of CPG, said of Mayor Estavilla.

Under Estavilla’s watch, the town has devised a scheme to entice residents, not only to clean their surroundings, but also make sure to have their solid waste attended.

“Gipalit pa man gani sa municipu tanan plastic na basura. All Services given free in exchange of __ kilos of basura depende sa quantum of service. Ex. Kasal – 1 sack (10 kilos)basura sa lalaki/10 kilos pud sa babaye. Food packs=5 kilos of basura Farmers/fisherfolks insurance for free in exchange of 10 kilos of basura,” Boles said.

(Solid waste in plastics generated by the residents are being bought in exchange of an incentive, like a sack of plastics equivalent to 10 kilos of rice or food packs).

“Mangayo ug AICS tag 5 kilos basura, petty crime violations – basura ibayad sa fine. Ug daghan pa.” (If beneficiary of Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) equivalent to five kilos of rice, petty violations be paid with fines thru plastic wastes).

“Pagka karon si Mayor nag order to conduct 4 O’clock habit per household,” Boyles said. (He added that the mayor is mandating residents to practice the 4’o clock habit to make their places clean}.

Mayor Ang has requested residents in his turf to help each other and make sure the surroundings are clean to avert dengue menace.

“Aduna kitay ipadala nga team sa matag barangay para mag inspection ug mag hatag ug dugang inpormasyon unsaon pag likay ug pag sumpo sa sakit nga dengue,” he said. (The said he sent a team to each barangay to disseminate information how to prevent dengue). (rvo)
