THE City Government of Tagbilaran, under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap, continues its commitment to advancing education by turning over Robotic Kits, Science Reading Associate (SRA) Laboratory and Learning Kits, and Practical Research Books to the Department of Education (DepEd) Tagbilaran City Schools Division.

This significant event took place on August 13, 2024, at the Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School and marks another milestone in the city’s ongoing efforts to integrate modern technology and innovative teaching tools into the local education system.

The resources were officially received by Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos, Schools Division Superintendent of the City Schools Division of Tagbilaran City, with school principals and DepEd personnel.

In addition to the turnover, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed for Project CoRE (Collect, Reuse), a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability through the reuse of educational materials.

The MOA signing was led by Mayor Jane Yap and Dr. Bongalos, with City Councilor Fausto Budlong and Adelfa Salutan, Head of the City Livelihood and Community Development Unit (CLCDU).

Project CoRE represents a shared commitment between the city government and DepEd to foster resourcefulness and sustainability in education.

Following the turnover ceremony, a Robotics Technology Training session was conducted for teachers, themed “Building the Future: Essential Training in Robotics”.

This training program is not just about introducing teachers to new technologies; it is a movement towards modernizing education by placing technology and innovation at the heart of learning.

The training aims to transform classrooms into dynamic environments where creativity and discovery are encouraged, ensuring that students are well-prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow.

Mayor Jane Yap emphasized the importance of these initiatives in her remarks, stating, “Our vision for Tagbilaran City is one where education is not just about books and traditional methods but about preparing our students for the future.

By integrating robotics, advanced science tools, and practical research into our schools, we are giving our children the tools they need to succeed in a world where technology is constantly advancing.”

The event underscores the strong partnership between the City Government of Tagbilaran and DepEd in achieving educational excellence.

As the city continues to invest in modern educational tools and training, it is clear that Tagbilaran is committed to building a future where students are not only well-educated but also equipped to become leaders and innovators in their respective fields.
