THE City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) for its frontliners on June 20, 2024, at the City Tourism Gallery.

This training session aimed to enhance the awareness and responsiveness of city government employees towards gender issues, promoting a more inclusive and equitable workplace and community service environment.

The training was organized by the Tagbilaran City Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System and the City Human Resource Management and Development Office (CHRMDO).

The learning session was led by Mr. Cirilo Maramba, Jr., a well-respected resource person known for his extensive expertise in gender sensitivity and equality.

Mr. Maramba provided valuable insights and practical strategies to help participants understand and address gender biases and stereotypes in their daily interactions and professional duties.

City Mayor Jane Yap emphasized the importance of such training sessions in her opening remarks, stating, “Gender sensitivity is crucial in ensuring that our services are fair and respectful to all citizens, regardless of gender. By equipping our frontliners with this knowledge, we are taking a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and equitable city.”

Throughout the session, participants engaged in various activities and discussions designed to challenge preconceived notions and encourage a more gender-sensitive approach in their roles.

The training covered essential topics such as recognizing gender biases, understanding the impact of gender discrimination, and implementing gender-sensitive practices in public service.

The training was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the opportunity to learn and grow in their understanding of gender issues.

Many expressed their commitment to applying the principles discussed during the training in their respective roles within the city government.

Tagbilaran City will continue capacity development activities for its employees as part of strengthening GAD in the offices and among employees, ensuring that the principles of gender equality and inclusivity are deeply ingrained in the city’s public service values.
