Vice-Gov. Dionisio Victor A. Balite stressed the need of learning from the past to guide the future development of Bohol. This he said in his speech during the 126th Philippines Independence Day celebration held at the new Capitol grounds in barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
“As Bohol strives to become a smart, resilient, and inclusive province, the lessons that we have learned from those who have come before us will serve as a guiding light towards building a future where every Boholano is proud of our traditions, culture, and heritage.”
The acting governor also pointed out the Strategic Change Agenda under Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado’s administration, which prioritizes cultural respect, resilience, and progress through good and honest governance.
Balite also drew on historical resilience as inspiration for current challenges. “Even with the presence of a myriad of challenges, the heroism shown by our brave men and women during tumultuous times should inspire us to move forward and face all obstacles with confidence, showcasing what we, as the descendants of Dagohoy, can do to build stronger communities,” he added.
Balite led Boholanos in the commemoration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day, which celebrates Filipinos’ enduring commitment in protecting the nation with the wreath-laying ceremony at the Capitol Grounds on June 12, assisted by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines and other groups.
