INTENDING to develop the lives and livelihood of those living in Barangays Liloan Norte and Liloan Sur in Sagbayan, Bohol, a recently-completed farm-to-market road (FMR) was turned over to the community last March 21, 2022, at a simple program held at Barangay Liloan Norte.
The road, which is 1.060 kilometers long and costs Php12,500,000, was built with funds from the Department of Agriculture (through the General Appropriations Act FY 2021) and implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). It is intended to provide the community living in the said barangays easier and faster access, especially in transporting their goods and agricultural products to the market.
Congressman Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado of the Second District of Bohol, who was the guest speaker at the turn-over ceremony, expressed his appreciation to the national government agencies (DA and DPWH) and to everyone who helped make the project possible, saying that this would help raise the living standards of those living in Liloan Norte and Liloan Sur.
“Mga kaigsuonan, nasayod ko nga kaning inyong gipangandoy nga kalsada, dugay ra gyud na ninyong gihandom. Kung makahinumdom mo niadtong pila ka tuig na nilabay, nag-aguma ta og linog adtong 2013. Kung nakahinumdom mo nga nagdala ko og relief goods dinhi na di mi makasulod tungod sa kapiot sa inyong lugar ug dili masudlan og dagkong sakyanan. So, ako gyud tong gisilsil sa akong alimpatakan, apan wala gyud ko nisaad kaninyo tungod kay dili ko ganahan na kamo magsige pud og paningil kung manaad man ta (Brethren, I am aware that this road is a dream of your community for a long time. If you can still remember many years ago, in 2013, when we were hit by a strong earthquake, I brought some relief goods, but we could not get in due to the tight road and no large vehicles could enter. So, I remembered it, but I did not promise you anything, as I don’t want you asking me if I promise something),” the solon noted in his short message.
Officials from the DPWH, Barangays Liloan Norte and Liloan Sur, and the Municipality of Sagbayan were also present in the said activity. (PR/jja)
