TODAY, is the first Sunday of the month of November. And, this month is the second of the BER months. Foremost, November is second to the last month of the year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flashing back to the last few ending days of the month of October, Short Cuts <\/em>can easily remember and recollect the events that passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Short Cuts, the last Sunday of October was very memorable to him.<\/em>  Unexpected to him, he was able to attend a rally held at the barangay Hall of his barangay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Short Cuts\u2019<\/em> intention in going to his barangay on the eve of election day was to visit his only sister running for Punong Barangay and that of his nephew who filed his Certificate of Candidacy for SK Chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On that occasion, all candidates of the barangay \u2013 from barangay captains and barangay kagawads to Sangguniang Kabataan Chairmen and kabataan members \u2013 were to deliver their campaign speeches if only to plead for votes from their fellow barangay mates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On that occasion also, Short Cuts<\/em> was not alone in attending the affair. He was with his nephew-lawyer and a cousin who is a college professor. So, our presence on that evening could easily touch the feeling \u00f6f \u201ckahadlok and kauwaw\u201d<\/em> to the speakers-candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Short Cuts<\/em> was not surprised when the two candidates for barangay captains delivered their respective speeches. Short Cuts\u2019<\/em> sister is a retired Public Schools District Supervisor and his counterpart is a degree holder and had been in the barangay service for almost fifteen years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the almost twenty candidates for Barangay Kagawad, only arround six candidates for Barangay Kagawad were degree holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the rest were only either secondary graduates or elementary school graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in the Sangguniang Kabataan candidates, almost all of them are either college graduates or college students. In fact, one SK Chairman candidate is a graduate in AB Philosophy at a Seminary and his opponent is a Third Year College in BSEd Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when the non-secondary graduates were made to deliver their respective campaign speeches, that was the exact time when the general public began not only to smile BUT laugh loudly to the utter discouragement of the speakers. So that, the speakers had to shorten their speeches and hastily say:\u00a0 \u201cDaghang\u00a0 salamat\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 And, to Short Cuts,  \u201cDaghang salamat\u201d<\/em> also!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the result of the voting was against them. So, \u201cDaghang salamat\u201d kay napildi mo.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Short Cuts<\/em> was immensely proud to witness how prepared were the SK candidates. Almost all of them presented their plans, if elected, by way of a power point. That was the first time that Short Cuts<\/em> ever witnessed such a type of campaign in an election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
