Balite banged the gavel for the approval of a Resolution, indorsing to the Department of Energy for consideration the proposed 155.833 Megawatt (Mw) Solar Power Plant Project in barangays Imelda and Benliw, Ubay, Bohol of the Ubay Solar Corporation (USC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This came following the recommendation of the Committee of the Whole chaired by Balite for the provincial board to pass the said resolution, indorsing, not only for DOE but all other agencies concerned, the Resolution said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The approved SP Resolution was the product of Provincial Development Council (PDC) Execom Resolution No. 62, Entitled: \u201cA Resolution favorably endorsing to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bohol the proposed 155.833 Megawatt (Mw) Solar Power Plant Project in barangays Imelda and Benliw, Ubay, Bohol of the Ubay Solar Corporation (USC) for further endorsement to the Department of Energy (DOE) and other concerned agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Prior to its approval for indorsement, the said committee recognized the potential socio-economic benefits that accompany the development and operation of the 155.833 MW Ubay Solar Power Plant Project in Barangays Imelda and Benliw, Ubay, Bohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The said proposal is not only a tangible addition to the growing power requirement in Bohol but also of the need to switch to renewable energy use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The solar power supply that\u2019s becoming a trend everywhere is apparently to cushion the impact of the feared changing of climate globally and eventually reducing the dependency of the fossil-fueled power supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The province of Bohol has already frowned upon and banned the use and setting up of coal-fired power plant here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Late last year, the provincial government thru Governor Aris Aumentado has welcomed any renewable energy (RE) proposal to satisfy the growing need for power supply. This came as the governor led the groundbreaking of a 25-MW solar power supply in a 24-hetare in barangay San Vicente, Dagohoy town late last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Just recently, there\u2019s another proposal of private company to put up 50-MW solar power somewhere in Corella town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Another RE is the wind use being eyed by a private entity somewhere in Anda town, a town official, whose identity was not divulged, said in an interview.
