THE province of Bohol has been included in the haze warning as a result of the forest fires in Indonesia, Philippine Emergency Alerts (PEA) said in its haze information posted on its facebook account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs of 7:00 PM, 06 October 2023, Friday, smoke and haze from the forest fires in Indonesia have begun to affect air quality in several regions of the Philippines, particularly in the southern and western parts of the country,\u201d the information reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It added that \u201cReduced visibility has been observed in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao. The same conditions may possibly continue to prevail on these areas by Saturday, October 07.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other provinces and cities affected of the risk are: Palawan, Zamboanga del Norte Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, North Cotabato, Davao City, Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those areas which may experience \u201clight-moderate haze,\u201d aside from Bohol are the following: Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Siquijor, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga del Sur, Isabela City, Basilan, Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Others include the provinces of Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PEA advised the public in affected areas to take precautionary measures against the effects of the haze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These are: (a) If you are in an affected area, limit outdoor activities and stay indoors as much as possible. Ensure your home is well-ventilated and consider using air purifiers if available; (b) If you must go outside, consider using masks, to protect your respiratory health; (c) Use eye protection like goggles or sunglasses to shield your eyes from irritation caused by the haze; (d) Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated; (e) Avoid strenuous activities outdoors, especially if you have respiratory issues; and (f) If you experience severe breathing difficulties or health issues due to the haze, seek medical assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
