THE provincial government joined the fray by declaring \u201cPura Luka Vega\u201d persona non-grata in the province of Bohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This came after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Tuesday unanimously passed a Resolution declaring Mr. Amadeus Fernando Pagente, also known as \u201cPura Luka Vega\u201d persona non-grata in Bohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It said that Pagente, 33, from Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, gained widespread attention due to his show in video, \u201cdepicting his dance routine at a bar, where in the video, he portrayed Jesus of Nazareth while dancing to a remixed version of the prayer Ama Namin, thereby causing offense to a significant number of Catholics not only present but also across the online community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Resolution said that the portrayal of religious figures in a way that is \u201cdisrespectful or offensive to the religious sentiments of individuals and communities is not conducive to promoting harmony and mutual respect within our society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bohol province values and upholds respect of all religions, traditions and practices, it sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Resolution stressed that its intention is not to infringe the individual\u2019s rights but to express the assembly\u2019s strong disapproval of actions that promotes disrespect and disharmony of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was learned that the said Resolution was sponsored by Vice-Gov. Dionisio Victor A. Balite and approved en masse during the session on Tuesday presided over by acting Vice-Gov. Tita V. Baja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
