IN its unwavering commitment to bolster disaster preparedness and response, the Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) headed by City DRRM Officer Gerard Lavadia conducted a series of training sessions on August 8-25, 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training program consisted of three major components: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Orientation, Basic Life Support (BLS) Training, and Basic Wound Care Training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively respond to emergencies and mitigate disaster risks, the training took place in three separate batches, with each batch held on consecutive days from August 8 to 11, August 15 to 18, and August 22 to 25, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Batch 1 and 2 participants were all employees of the CDRRMO while Batch 3 participants consisted of Tagbilaran City Safety Officers, who are responsible for ensuring safety and emergency response measures within the city government of Tagbilaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City Mayor Jane Yap expressed her support for the training program, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the city’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our city is no stranger to various disasters. It is our duty to ensure that our responders and community members are well-prepared to handle these situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The skills learned in these training sessions can make a significant difference in saving lives and reducing the impact of disasters,” Mayor Yap stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esteemed resource speakers from CDRRMO included Marko Emmanuel Longjas, Emmanuel Supremo, Jericho Yarte and Fritz Dennis Ruyeras with additional inputs of Mary Ann Jumao-as and Kayzelle Suribas from the Rural Health Unit of Dauis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The essential topics they covered were DRRM overview, first aid, medical emergencies, BLS, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of automated external defibrillators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge that can contribute to the safety and well-being of Tagbilaran City’s residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By investing in disaster preparedness and response training, Tagbilaran City continues to fortify its resilience against various hazards.
