THE power distribution utilities (DUs) failed to make to clean or bundling the dangling power lines\/wires, also called spaghetti wires in most of the electric poles in the city and province, according Liga ng mga Barangay federation president Dr. Romulo Cepedoza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on the committee report Cepedoza who was the Chairman of the same committee during the 28th Sanggunian \u201copined that BOHECO I and II, Bohol Light Company and BCCTV promised within 6 months to 2 years to clean spaghetti wires in the province but to date it remained futile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that proposed ordinance \u201cRegulating and Monitoring the Installation and Maintenance of Distribution Lines of Various Public Utility Companies and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof,” if approved should punish those violators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The committee also found during its recent meeting that there are so many wires that are too low on the road of the Province of Bohol, a risk to many passersby and caused heavy traffic. The spaghetti looking wires on the street also posed danger to fire, add weight to the post, an eyesore and posed danger to large trucks including those carrying container vans that has cause inconvenience and public hazard to Boholanos.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another discovery is that 90% of \u201cPLDT\u2019s work is done by its sub-contractors, according to Mr. Gallardo R. Gonzaga. Sub-contractors of telecom companies one of causes the dangling wires in the province. He suggested to strengthen the monitoring of works of the sub-contractors, more importantly on the maintenance aspect of their jobs. He further suggested for telephone companies to start imposing penalties of its erring sub-contractors with respect to dangling wires.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Noel M. Aleman of BOHECO II suggested that cleaning of dangling wires should be conducted simultaneously during replacement of posts and during scheduled power interruptions. Telephone companies as well as cable companies should be informed during this time to coordinate the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, Mr. Danilo L. Quidlat of BOHECO I disclosed that checking of the requirements shall be the utmost priority before granting the contract to telcos and cable companies to use their electric post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Joseph Ramirez of BCCTV expressed that \u201cthey have coordinated with Tagbilaran City Officials and conducted bundling of dangling wires in the city but the problem is for the new telco sub-contractors leaving their unwanted wires anew. He then made a suggestion to telephone companies to identify their sub-contractors and to call their attention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Mr. Anthony Peralta of Globe Telecoms, \u201cidentification of cables are based on color coding scheme. Different telephone companies like Converge (orange\/black), Ditto (blue\/black), PLDT (black\/red), Globe (white\/black), Cruztelco (black) and Far Eastern (green\/black) have different wire colors and bearing the name of the company.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The committee report that all Telcos agreed and supported the said proposed ordinance to have a unified approach on the cleaning of Dangling or Spaghetti Wires in the entire Province of Bohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
