THE Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) met with the Provincial Government (PGBh) on Monday, March 20, announcing their proposal to revive the Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef Management (DBDBRM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative by CCEF is in partnership with the Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF), the United States Agency For International Development-Investing in Sustainability and Partnerships For Inclusive Growth Regenerative Ecosystem (USAID INSPIRE), and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CCEF aims to revive the inactive Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef Management council responsible for environmental conservation and proper management of aquatic resources in the area. One of their aims is to stop the recurring problem of illegal fishing and overfishing in the Danajon Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Aris Aumentado welcomed the CCEF committee during their courtesy call at the Governor’s Office to discuss areas where PGBh can assist them. He told the committee that he hopes their efforts will help conserve the reef and allow legal and sustainable livelihood opportunities for Boholanos living near the Danajon bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the Aumentado administration’s Strategic Change Agenda, the PGBh through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), committed to helping CCEF with its initiative to protect the Danajon Bank Double Barrier Reef from environmental devastation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Danajon Bank is the only double barrier reef in the Philippines located in the northeastern part of the province. This reef is known for its rich marine biodiversity and is a part of the 14 geological sites under the Bohol Global Geopark system. Ten Bohol municipalities have jurisdiction over the Danajon Bank, namely: Tubigon, Clarin, Inabanga, Buenavista, Getafe, Bien Unido, Trinidad, Ubay, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, and Talibon.
