\u201cDO unto others what you would like others do unto you.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a saying full of meaning. Which if left unattended by someone in his daily activity may lead to one\u2019s catastrophic debacle in life.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For, as a person, who is he in his right senses dreams of a dark future? Who is that fellow who wants to fail?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is, therefore, advised that before one decides on an issue he must not only think twice. Pause for some moments before jumping into a conclusion. Otherwise, you are drowned into a universe of uncertainties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most specially if what is desired in an issue calls for a group decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take the case of the legislative bodies in Congress and the lawmaking bodies in the provinces, municipalities and barangays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More often, party affiliation is the name of the game!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal decisions on issues are, in most cases, set aside in favor of party decisions. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is in this particular scenario that tyranny of number comes in. The group or political party which is in bigger number of members usually rules in the decision-making of the same legislative body.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is happening today in our present Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the province is the best example. The revamp of some committees best exemplifies the action taken by the administration in the chairmanships and the composition of its membership that typifies \u201ctyranny of numbers\u201d.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is of record that at the start of the present provincial administration, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan was predominantly dominated by the opposition. As a consequence, assignments of committee chairmanships and memberships were largely on their side, to the utter detriment of the interests of the provincial administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, the turn of events unmasked a new majority in our present Sangguniang Panlalawigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was the majority at the start of this provincial administration is now\u00a0 in the minority!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, conscious of a new favor, a new legislative action to revamp the committee chairmanships and memberships was introduced. And, the move was carried and approved.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As expected, cries for the retention of the committee chairmanships and memberships from the NEW OPPOSITION were heard in the Halls of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. But to no avail. \u201cTyranny of number\u201d again came in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Short Cuts<\/em> hopes that The NEW OPPOSITION has learned a new lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, the new lesson?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo unto others what you would like others do unto you\u201d.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, the tragedy experienced by the NEW OPPOSITION in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is not new to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was some seven years ago when Short Cuts<\/em> was the newly-elected Vice-Governor of the province!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He handled a provincial legislative body where his political party was in\u00a0 the minority. Being in the minority block, he requested from the majority members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the chairmanship of the Budget Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the same request was denied by the majority members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, now Short Cuts<\/em> is reminded!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some members of the NEW MINORITY in the PRESENT Sangguniang Panlalawigan were then members of the majority some ten years ago with Short Cuts<\/em> as the Presiding Officer!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
