THE City of Tagbilaran received the Gawad Kalasag (GK) Seal 2022 Award being recognized as \u201cFully Compliant\u201d LGU in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Regional Office of the Civil Defense conferred the Gawad Kalasag Seal 2022 Award during the Disaster Resilience Month Culmination Program. City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Research and Development Head Marko Emmanuel Longjas received the GK Seal 2022 Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CDRRMO Head Gerard Lavadia thanked all the people who supported the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe congratulate and thank all our members for being recognized as Fully Compliant LGU. The full support of the City Government has made all these possible. We are also grateful to the trust and confidence of the Tagbilaranons. Their cooperation to the initiatives we have launched inspired us greatly to do more,\u201d Lavadia said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 1998, the Gawad KALASAG (GK) Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance has served as the country\u2019s recognition and award scheme for various stakeholders who promote and implement disaster risk reduction and management, climate change adaptation (DRRM-CCA), and humanitarian assistance programs that protect and shield high risk communities against extreme hazards and render them more capable of addressing their vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GK envisioned to serve as a performance assessment mechanism for all Local Government Units as implementor of the Local DRRM Councils and Local DRRM Office pursuant to Republic Act No. 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
