A king prepares a wedding feast for his son and extends repeated invitations to those who were first called. Yet the invitation is met with indifference, preoccupation, and even violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The king then opens the banquet to all who can be found, &#8220;both bad and good,&#8221; filling the wedding hall. Still, the narrative ends with the expulsion of a guest who appears without the required wedding garment. The conclusion, &#8220;Many are called, but few are chosen,&#8221; invites careful reflection on the relationship between divine generosity and human responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first striking feature is the persistence of the king. The invitation is not withdrawn after the initial refusal. Instead, more servants are sent with renewed appeals. This illustrates the patience of God, who continually seeks humanity despite repeated rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Divine grace is never coercive; it respects freedom while tirelessly offering reconciliation. The tragic irony is that those originally invited are not excluded because they lacked opportunity, but because they preferred their own interests over communion with the king.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The widening of the invitation to everyone found along the roads demonstrates the universality of God&#8217;s saving will. The kingdom is not the privilege of a select social, ethnic, or moral class. It embraces all who are willing to enter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Significantly, the guests include &#8220;both bad and good,&#8221; underscoring that entrance into God&#8217;s household begins with grace rather than personal achievement. No one earns the invitation; all receive it as an undeserved gift. Yet grace does not abolish the need for conversion. The banquet gathers sinners, but it does not canonize them in their existing condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wedding garment becomes the decisive symbol. It is not a matter of external appearance or social convention but of an interior transformation that must accompany acceptance of God&#8217;s invitation. To enter the feast while refusing the garment is to desire the privileges of the kingdom without embracing its demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faith cannot remain merely intellectual or sentimental. It must mature into a life shaped by charity, obedience, and continual conversion. The garment signifies the new life received from God and consciously lived through cooperation with grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This parable therefore rejects two opposite errors. One is presumption, imagining that the invitation alone guarantees final communion regardless of one&#8217;s response. The other is despair, assuming that one&#8217;s past failures make participation impossible. The Gospel avoids both extremes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God&#8217;s mercy is astonishingly inclusive, yet it never becomes indifferent to truth and holiness. The Christian vocation consists precisely in allowing grace to transform ordinary work, family life, relationships, and daily responsibilities into expressions of love for God. Holiness is not reserved for extraordinary circumstances but is forged through fidelity in the ordinary realities of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The king&#8217;s judgment upon the improperly clothed guest also reminds believers that God sees beyond outward association with the community of faith. External membership, religious practice, or familiarity with sacred things cannot substitute for an authentic interior life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lord desires not simply attendance at the banquet but genuine communion with the Bridegroom. Such communion is expressed through humility, repentance, perseverance, and above all, charity, which binds together every virtue in its perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Blessed Virgin Mary exemplifies the proper response to the divine invitation.
