BOHOL is gearing up for the 2026 National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) this November, with provincial and national agriculture agencies coordinating a month-long series of activities to promote rice awareness and support the province\u2019s rice sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was after the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, participated in the 2026 NRAM Coordination Meeting on August 27, 2026, at Reynas the Haven and Gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was made possible through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and in partnership with the Department of Agriculture 7 (DA-7) to synchronize resources, workforce, and activities for the month-long November celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting gathered representatives from the DA 7\u2013Provincial Agricultural Technology Coordinating Office (DA-7 PATCO) and Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS), National Food Authority (NFA), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), and National Irrigation Administration\u2013Bohol (NIA-Bohol).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also in the meeting were representatives from Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The coordination focused on strengthening collaboration among agriculture line agencies and aligning their respective programs for a unified province-wide celebration, with the Rice Festival serving as one of the major highlights of Bohol\u2019s NRAM activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DA-7 Information Officer II Jolina Bacus presented the regional NRAM activities, including the National Rice Month Awareness Launching in Bohol on November 6 and the NRAM Rice Symposium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also part of the lineup of activities are the feeding to be held in the island barangays of Tubigon on November 10, the NRAM Campaign and BeRICEponsible Run in Tagbilaran City on November 18, and the Rice Big Day in Carmen on November 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, OPA NRAM Focal Person Lorebien Lagapa presented the province\u2019s activities, highlighting the Rice Festival and other initiatives such as a sales conference, social media campaign, and installation of streamers and banners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, part of the preparations included coordination with the church community, restaurants, and the Department of Education for the implementation and practice of the rice pledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province will also strengthen public awareness through signages, promotional materials, and digital advertisements placed in conspicuous areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the first week, the November 5 kick-off will feature the launching and opening of the Rice Museum, along with the distribution of two kilograms of rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second week will feature the November 10 Rice Symposium and Feeding, including outreach activities, monitoring of the \u20b120 rice selling, and the distribution of 200 bags of rice from Food Terminal Inc. to households in Tubigon\u2019s island barangays, together with slippers and school supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On November 12, experiential learning through rice planting and carabao riding, or a Harvest Festival, will be held in Pilar, involving schools and learning sites supported by ATI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third week will feature the Young Farmers\u2019 Big Day on November 19, targeting young farmers from different local government units in the First District, with Catigbian as the proposed venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fourth week will culminate in the Riceponsible Fun Run on November 28, tentatively targeting students from Bohol Wisdom School at Plaza Rizal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PhilRice representative Jasper Ray Cantal also presented the RICEponsible Everyday Campaign, which encourages the public to avoid rice wastage, support local rice farmers, and choose healthier rice varieties such as high-zinc, low-glycemic index, pigmented, and brown rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign also promotes the revitalization of the Half Rice Ordinance and the display of the Be RICEponsible seal in LGU facilities and offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ATI, meanwhile, presented its NRAM initiatives, including participation in feeding outreach activities, trivia and games through online platforms, and support for OPA-led events. The agency will also spearhead the NRAM kick-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A continuation meeting will be conducted to further prepare for the 2026 NRAM celebration and expand coordination with local government units, the academe, and other partner institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anchored on the PGBh Strategic Governance Roadmap, the coordinated NRAM efforts advance collaborative and sustainable governance through sustainable agriculture, stronger livelihoods, responsible rice consumption, and food security in Bohol, a UNESCO Global Geopark.
